It was another relatively good weekend for CG-animated kids' films and an especially bad weekend for horror sequels, with Rio debuting to double the opening gross of Scream 4, which had the lowest opening in the franchise since the series debut in 1996. Here are the weekend estimates:

Opening in limited release this weekend was the long-gestating, independently produced adaptation of Atlas Shrugged. The film weathered scathing reviews to debut with a decent if unremarkable $1,677,000 from 300 screens.
